<h3 style="text-align: center">Chris Bloomquist – Community Builder, Ally and Green Business Leader</h3>Chris Bloomquist is a husband, father, community leader, coach, musician, engineer, climate recruiting founder and Latino American who is proud of his immigrant heritage and philanthropy. His father was a fourth generation farmer, his mother a Chilean immigrant and social worker, who survived a political coup in the 70’s, became a U.S. Citizen to make a new life in the United States. He’s never forgotten his farm roots, nor his mother’s escape from tyrannical political rule, and how precious and vital Democracy is to protect, which is what drives him to serve in Olympia for the 32nd&nbsp;District. These humble beginnings taught him the values of family, community, respect for nature, service to our country and the “golden rule” of treating others as you want to be treated.&nbsp;His wife and daughters also share these values and are civic minded and active. His wife Olivia has been a dedicated Boeing employee for over 20 years, has served as President of the Broadview Thomson PTA, and their school aged daughters are involved in student government, the Page program in Olympia, Cross Country running, Ultimate Frisbee, theatre and the arts. They enjoy road tripping in their EV across the country to National Parks and State Capitols, learning about our country’s political history while respecting nature’s beauty and our environment we all share.As a community leader, he has been asked to serve in leadership roles spanning DEI employment initiatives, BIPOC educational opportunities and environmental organizations. This includes roles as Board Member for the KD Hall Foundation, dedicated to improving educational, health and career outcomes for women and girls in underrepresented communities, PNW Climate Week where he created their first career fair, and served as President of the Iowa State Alumni Association of Seattle to build community for the local Iowa State community. He and his wife are proud donors to Water1st, a climate justice non-profit dedicated to providing clean water and sanitation in developing communities across the world.&nbsp;He has also donated his time, talent and treasure to Habitat for Humanity, YearUp United and Per Scholas, local non-profits that provide equitable housing, and technology career opportunities for aspiring students in minority communities.A two-time startup founder, engineering professional, and climate tech recruiter, Chris has dedicated his career to creating equitable job opportunities, supporting small businesses and non-profits to power the green economy. As your future State Representative for the 32nd&nbsp;District, Chris vows to channel his 20+ years of community and business acumen to build retraining programs for the green economy, defend civil rights, especially for our neighbors in BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, and create compassionate, data driven legislation to increase public safety and find sustainable solutions to homelessness and unemployment, while supporting small businesses. He aims to leverage his software engineering experience to create common sense guard rails to properly legislate AI, while considering the environmental justice, socio economic and employment impacts that this new technology infrastructure brings to Washington state.&nbsp;He finds joy in many ways, including playing the saxophone in local bands, coaching his children’s sports teams, and is an avid runner, board gamer and Lego enthusiast. As an environmental recruiter, Chris knows how to power our green economy while lowering energy costs. He will support bills like SB 5116 that focus on clean energy, environmental justice and job creation for Washingtonians.

AFFORDABILITY THROUGH CLEAN ENERGY

Chris supports sustainable, long-term solutions to homelessness, listening to our social workers and first responders to improve public health and safety. He will promote zoning for tiny homes that are community lead, while removing barriers to home ownership for our emerging workforce.

TACKLE HOMELESSNESS AND PUBLIC HEALTH

Washington has a $500 million+ gap in school funding due to flawed models based on population growth. He will prioritize public school funding as his #1 commitment, including legislation like SB 5849 that requires teaching financial literacy to graduate.

FULLY FUND OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Washington has the 2nd most regressive tax system in the country at the detriment of our school funding, public safety, and infrastructure. Chris will vote for legislation to increase taxes on the top 5% of earners to balance the budget and invest in our communities.

PROGRESSIVE TAX REFORM

As a former software engineer and concerned parent, he will bring common-sense oversight to AI, protecting children, our citizens, and the environment with laws to guard against AI overreach, while encouraging innovation.
